As photographers, many of us are fascinated by old, historic and abandoned buildings and structures. It may be the forms and textures of the area, the adventure of exploration or it may be the stories that these places can tell us and the way that it adds meaning to our images.
I am a people photographer so, for me, it is the juxtaposition of a modern human form and the decaying surroundings that I find so interesting. For many it is the compositions and light that shows off these structures and locations to produce memorable photographs.
In this course I will take you through the important factors of safety and legalities of shooting in abandoned places. I will also suggest the gear that will help you in these situations and the techniques to make the best from any location.
Lighting is the key to any photographic pursuit so I will show you videos and final images from many of my expeditions to abandoned places in my area both indoors and outdoors.
Finding such places can be a little tricky but there are ways that we can view and plan our shoots to increase the chances of success with our camera.
