Description
Introduction to X rays , and their uses in Clinical practice. This course is designed to educate medical students , post graduate trainees and paramedics about X rays ,and their uses in Medicine for diagnostic purposes. In addition , methods of interpreting X rays of chest , abdomen and skull would be dscussed as well . What diseases could be diagnosed on basis of X rays in heart , lungs and joints. Prior knowledge of the field is not required and the concepts would be discussed in simple language. X rays have been in use in Medical practice since 1900s . Although at that time the machines were very toxic as they caused damaging radiation effects. now a days with advancements in Science and technology , better machines have been dveloped with better resolutions and lesser side effects.Röntgen's discovery occurred accidentally in his Wurzburg, Germany, lab, where he was testing whether cathode rays could pass through glass when he noticed a glow coming from a nearby chemically coated screen. He dubbed the rays that caused this glow X-rays because of their unknown natureX-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to visible light. Unlike light, however, x-rays have higher energy and can pass through most objects, including the body. Medical x-rays are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body.\Röntgen's discovery was labeled a medical miracle and X-rays soon became an important diagnostic tool in medicine, allowing doctors to see inside the human body for the first time without surgery. In 1897, X-rays were first used on a military battlefield, during the Balkan War, to find bullets and broken bones inside patients.
