DescriptionNOTE: THE DESCRIPTION BELOW APPLIES TO ALL 3 MODULESLevel 1 Story 4, Tin Man in a Pit is part of the 68 story lecture series of the CompuRead Multisensory Reading Program and is a story about Pat, a tin man and how he saves the town he lives in, Tin Town, from the angry Prince of Doom.Craydon, Tin Man Pat's good friend, helps Tin Man Pat go on a quest to find the magic oil that when applied to the rusty town's people will turn them into "real" people who can run, think and read.Tin Man Pat started on his journey to find the magic oil and has several adventures along the way including falling into a watery pit.Tin Man Pat is saved by a good friend, Sam, who pulls him from the wet and muddy pit. They both find the lid that contains the magic oil.They return to Tin Town and the oil is applied to all the town's people and it works wonders including turning all the tin people in town into real people.Everyone was happy including all the children who were now learning to read. They read about things they had never known before.Everyone was happy., except the Prince of Doom.LISTENING TO THE STORY NARRATED adds greatly to the learning process. It helps the student to learn in three ways:• Listening with the audio narration.• Seeing the words on the computer's screen.• Seeing the words on the screen and how they are spelled and pronounced by the narrator, all in a real human voice, not a computerized voice common in today's digital learning world.As with all CompuRead stories, it includes relevant questions with answers to further help the student to fully understand the concepts being taught.THE PHONICS, WRITING AND SPELLING section emphasizes listening. Throughout the CompuRead lessons, the Vocabulary and Expressive Speaking section is invaluable in building a powerful and diverse vocabulary for future creative writing and speaking.SCIENCE BACKGROUND tells about the science of fig trees and how they are used and where they are grown and is easily understandable for children to fully understand the life cycle of a fig tree.STORY MAPPING provides the student with a head start in understanding the story's structure and layout. It explains many aspect of story construction and flow, demonstrating to the student advanced story telling aspects, concepts and techniques.HOME FUN continues with providing fun and engaging activities the student can do at home to enhance the overall story structure and concepts learned.The READING SKILLS REVIEW provides a way for the student and teacher to review the concepts learned and tracks the student's progress through the CompuRead program.
