Description
Are you thinking about learning or currently learning Spanish? Do you often find yourself wondering how to pronounce a word in Spanish? Do you make attempts at reading in Spanish but struggle to pronounce several words together? If you answered yes to those questions, then this course is for you.In this course, I'll teach you the Spanish alphabet, the digraphs, the stressed syllable, the accent mark, and the types of words in Spanish based on their stressed syllable. With this knowledge, you'll be able to read any word in Spanish, regardless of whether you know that word or not.Why is that useful?English is my second language and one of the hardest things for me when I learned to speak in English was figuring out the pronunciation of words. You try to read but you find yourself staring at words trying to figure out how to pronounce them (thankfully now there's google). You try to say something to somebody who speaks Spanish but you're afraid of making a pronunciation mistake. This course is meant to make you overcome that and that's what makes it useful. Objective of the courseSo, my goal for this course was to teach you just that. How to read and pronounce words in Spanish, even if you can't speak the language. Why is this possible?Unlike English, Spanish has a set of rules and guides to determine how to read and pronounce words. Why I created this courseIn 2018, while studying journalism in Canada, I decided to start tutoring students in Spanish so that I could earn an extra income. Back then, I noticed that most of the mistakes students made were related to not knowing the rules of the Spanish language. In 2019 I met my partner, a native English speaker. She was trying to learn Spanish using well-known apps that focus on practice rather than theory. This allowed us to talk a bit in Spanish but she would often struggle trying to pronounce words. This pronunciation issue became more notorious when I got her a children's book in Spanish. One thing is to repeat words out of memory (somebody else said those words), another is to read them from a text. So, after thinking about it for a long time and overcoming the fear of embarking in such a long project, I decided to create this course...in 2021. Yes, it has taken two years to create this course but it is finally here.
